Born in Hertfordshire during World War II, Rex Harpham went into engineering on leaving school, but in his mid-twenties switched careers and became a social worker. He is now retired which leaves more time to devote to his various interests which include singing, yoga, chi kung, tai chi, and the study of ancient Chinese crossbows and Roman torsion crossbows. He is a member of the Society of Archer-Antiquaries who are interested in all forms of archery and related spring-powered projectile devices.
Rex has two sons, both scientists, five grandchildren, and a wife who he declares looks after him very well. He intends to continue writing with possibly more Sherlock Holmes novels on the way.
